I have written about somehow wanting people to know I was a widow in the early days, to be treated differently. That's the only reason I regretted changing customs and having no desire to wear black. I so understand that part. And yes, people sometimes would say I looked "normal," okay, as I adapted... but the pain was still there! and of course remains, though softened.
