I once read about a family whose mom was very ill, and one of her sons died, but they didn't tell her so as not to make her feel worse. As she was dying, she began to "see people" and exclaimed, "Why didn't you tell me that Johnny had gone on?" (or whatever his name was). That sounds pretty convincing to me!!
