March 21st used to be known basically as the first day of spring, the equinox, a time of flowering hope as the days became longer. But that date in 2020 came with a grey cloud over it, the day the Lockdown started for us.

Little did I know — or anyone — know that the three weeks we expected the pandemic to last would go on and on and on. Little did we imagine how it would turn our lives upside down!

There were a few perks. I enjoyed my morning walks in my neighborhood more than usual, with almost zero traffic or smog.

It was scary, however, to see small businesses in my area close, and wonder if they would survive. Quite a few did not.

March 21st, why didn’t you let me know?

I wish I had known how much I truly need human contact. Somewhat of an introvert, I spend much of my time at home, but still enjoy outings with family and lunch with friends. Maybe I would have been more careful to meet with people and hug them more before physical contact was Verboten for so long.
