My husband was a civil engineer, too! We have boxes of slides I question what to do with. My daughter bought him a new projector the year before he died, but with his poor health, he had no energy to work on the slides. Now she's bought an apparatus that can turn them into photos, but no one has taken that job on! Many have to do with his church/denomination and we might donate some to the denomination. But would they care to have slides, or even pictures of people and events few identify now?
