Car parts stolen

in broad daylight,

neighbors complain

to the cops.

These hem and haw,

then infer

that “something”

could be done,

the patrolling

that should be

the norm,

if only we chip in

for their beers (and more).

They merely infer.

Which dishonesty

do we prefer?

This is

(but should not be)

life.
